What is a podiatrist?
A podiatrist is an expert in all foot and ankle problems. We will assess your foot and ankle in order to find the underlying cause of your problems, whether it is causing you toe pain, heel pain, ankle pain, hip pain, knee pain or even back pain. We can then treat the cause of your issues, reduce discomfort and prevent further problems from developing.
Gait analysis
We can analyse your gait, looking at the movement of your foot and ankle and their relationship with the rest of your body when you walk and move. Most foot troubles develop from biomechanical anomalies (none of us are symetrical and often one side of the body has to compensate for the other side) which can gradually become inflamed or injured over time.
Custom made orthotics
Orthotics can help you with foot and ankle pain as well as knee hip and back problems. Orthotics realign your foot and ankle by changing the way your heel strikes the ground, putting it into the optimum position for walking and running.
We also manage childrens lower limb problems such as Sever’s, Osgood-Schlatter’s Disease and assess childrens walking problems.
Routine chiropody
We can help with toenail cutting, hard skin, corn removal and management of verrucaes, fungal nails, athletes foot and sweaty feet.
Ingrowing Toenail Surgery
Ingrowing toenails can be painful and routine chiropody unable to help. We can remove part of the nail and apply a special chemical to prevent it growing back.
We can also remove nails and prevent regrowth to help with problematic thick nails caused by fungus or for those who keep losing their big toenails due to trauma, which is very common in runners and walkers.
Steroid Injections
We can use corticosteroid drugs to treat pain, inflammation, certain types of arthritis and many other medical problems.
An injectable form of steroid can also be helpful in treating; plantar fasciitis, neuromas, arthritis of big toe joint and ankle joint, capsulitis.
Improvement can last for weeks or months, and in some cases longer.
