What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession which specialises in physical injuries which affect normal movement and human function. This may be from a condition that has developed gradually e.g. repetitive strain injuries or as the result of a specific incident e.g. car accident.
All our physiotherapists are experienced members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
How can Physiotherapy help me?
Physiotherapists work with patients to treat their physical injuries and return patients to normal activity as soon as possible.
- Relieving pain
- Restoring functional movement and mobility
- Restoring strength and stability to the area
- Preventing further problems
- Aiding the management of long term problems
- Improving wellbeing
What will happen at my Physio consultation?
Horsforth Physiotherapy will give you a thorough assessment and accurate clinical diagnosis of your condition to explain your injury and discuss the most effective course of treatment, tailored to your individual needs and lifestyle. We use a combination of hands on, manual therapy techniques in conjunction with a range of other treatment modalities to optimise your recovery.
The initial assessment usually takes one hour. Depending on your needs, and after discussion with you, follow up treatments of 30 to 45 minutes can be arranged. Please bring appropriate clothing with you ie shorts, vest, loose clothing; we need acess to the area to be assessed/treated therefore you may need to change.
